Catch-up bookkeeping: from months behind to completely current

Whether it's a messy quarter or three untouched years, we reconstruct your records period by period, reconcile every account, and hand you clean, tax-ready books — with the scope agreed up front.

What's included

A complete reconstruction, not a quick patch

Backlog data entry

Every transaction from the backlog period entered and categorized against your statements.

Full reconciliation

Bank, credit-card and payment accounts reconciled for every period — no unexplained gaps.

Error correction

Duplicates removed, miscoded entries fixed, personal and business transactions untangled.

AR/AP rebuild

Outstanding invoices and unpaid bills identified and aged, so you know what's truly owed.

Statements per period

Profit & loss and balance sheet for each caught-up period — tax-ready and lender-ready.

Stay-current handoff

A clean cut-over to monthly bookkeeping so the backlog never builds up again.

How it works

Three steps from backlog to current

1

Records review & quote

We look at your statements and software, size the backlog, and give you a scope with a timeline.

2

Reconstruction

We rebuild the books period by period, reconciling as we go and logging questions in one organized list.

3

Review & handover

You get clean financials for every period, a walkthrough of what we found, and the option to go monthly.

Why act now

A backlog only gets more expensive with time

Records go missing, memories fade, and filing deadlines don't wait. Every month of delay makes the reconstruction slower and riskier. The good news: the fix is a well-defined project — not an endless chore.

  • Stop estimating your taxes from guesswork
  • Know your real profit for every past period
  • Walk into any bank or investor meeting with credible numbers
  • Replace the nagging dread with a done project

FAQ

Catch-up bookkeeping questions, answered

How far behind can my books be for catch-up bookkeeping?

There is no practical limit — we regularly rebuild one to three years of records, and longer backlogs are just more periods of the same disciplined process. As long as bank statements and basic records exist, the books can be reconstructed.

What documents do you need to catch up my books?

Bank and credit-card statements for the backlog period, sales records or invoices, major purchase receipts, loan agreements and payroll records if applicable. Missing paperwork is normal — statements alone recover most of the picture, and we flag the gaps that matter.

How long does catch-up bookkeeping take?

A few months of backlog is typically done within one to two weeks. A full year usually takes two to four weeks depending on transaction volume. You get a timeline and scope before work starts.

Will cleaned-up books be ready for my tax accountant or an audit?

Yes. The deliverable is a reconciled, documented set of books with financial statements for each period — exactly what a tax preparer, lender or auditor needs. We also provide year-end closing and audit preparation support if you need it.
